The Urubamba River runs from the high Andean ranges down through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, past Machu Picchu and into the jungle. It has some exciting white water depending on the section of the river and the time of the year. One of our most popular rafting sections during the season is called "Chuquicahuana". There are good class IIl rapids and the water is not contaminated, as unfortunately the Huambutio and Ollantaytambo section of the river are contaminated.
Day 1: Cusipata section: Our private transportation picks you up at your hotel; we then drive
1.5h to Mayuc’s “Casa Cusi” rivercamp in Cusipata. Our professional rafting guides give a safety talk and provide all the proper rafting equipment. We then paddle around 2.5h, running exciting class II, introductory-type rapids. We drive back to Casa Cusi, where saunas, hot showers, comfortable dinning room, hammocks, thatched roof camping area and excellent food are waiting for you to spend the night. You will fall asleep under the whisper of the river. (L+D).
Day 2: Chuquicahuana section: After a relaxing sauna and a good night’s sleep, we get up for
a healthy breakfast. Afterwards we drive 10 minutes up-river to the Chuquicahuana section, where we will run more intense class III rapids. Safety kayakers or catarafts provide extra safety during this trip. We paddle around 2.5h, floating all the way back to Casa Cusi, where you get to enjoy the sauna and hot showers again while a BBQ lunch is prepared for you. Afterwards we drive back to Cusco, arriving around 5:30pm. (B+L).
