FAQ

Questions travelers ask us

Can't find your answer? Ask us in the chat or on WhatsApp. A real person from our Cusco team will reply.

Are your tours really private? +

Yes. Every tour is for your group only: your own guide, your own transport and your own pace. You never share with other travelers.

How does pricing work? +

Prices are per person and go down as your group grows, because the guide and transport are shared within your group. Each tour page shows the exact price for 1 to 12 travelers. Sending a booking request is free: we confirm availability first, then send you a written quote with payment options and conditions before you pay anything.

How far in advance should I book the Inca Trail? +

As early as you can. Inca Trail permits are limited each day and issued by Peru's Ministry of Culture, and dates from May to August often sell out months ahead. We recommend booking 4 to 6 months before your trip. If permits are gone, the Salkantay or Lares treks and Machu Picchu by train are great alternatives.

When is the best time to visit Peru? +

The dry season, roughly May to September, has the most reliable weather in Cusco and Machu Picchu. The rainy season runs from about December to March: it's greener and quieter, with afternoon showers. The classic Inca Trail closes every February for maintenance, but Machu Picchu stays open.

Will the altitude affect me? +

Cusco sits at about 3,400 m (11,150 ft), so take it easy for your first day or two, drink plenty of water and avoid heavy meals and alcohol at first. Many travelers start in the Sacred Valley, which is lower, and go up to Cusco afterwards. Tell us if you have health concerns and we'll plan the order of your days around it.

Can I change an itinerary? +

Of course. Use the "Customize Tour" button on any tour, or message us in the chat or on WhatsApp. We can add days, combine tours, change hotels or slow the pace.

Do I need a visa for Peru? +

Citizens of the US, Canada, the UK, the European Union and many other countries don't need a visa for a tourist stay. Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months. Please confirm the current rules for your nationality with your nearest Peruvian consulate.

What languages do your guides speak? +

Our team works in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Tell us your preferred language when you book.

How do I reach you before and during my trip? +

Use the chat bubble on this site, WhatsApp (+1 385-371-8745) or email info@lamanitatravel.com. We usually reply within a few hours, and we stay in touch on WhatsApp while you travel.
